Hello! In this video, we're going to explain how to create multiple rate types for a specific tour.
Accessing Rate Type Settings
To begin, navigate to Products, then Tours. Click on the edit button and then select the Setup option. Once here, proceed to the Rate Types section.
Understanding Rate Types
Rate types are a crucial part of the tour setup. They facilitate the loading of multiple prices for products configured as a standard tour. Examples include offering different pricing for children or senior customers, or providing an upgraded level of service or comfort at a distinct price. We can establish multiple rates if we wish to offer varying prices for each, such as "adults" or "children." In our example, we will create two different rates, one for adults and one for children, allowing us to assign a separate price to each.
Configuring Multiple Rates
Here, under Rate Type, you need to select "multiple rates" by default. Then, under Group Pricing, select "price per person" by default. If you scroll down, you can then enter the different rates.
By default, "Adults" is already active and set as an adult age category. This is created by TourCMS automatically. However, you can enter a different rate name if desired in the text field provided. For instance, for our German channels, we can input the rate name in German, along with a "label number one" for additional information, and a "label number two" for further details. You can also add a minimum age range and maximum age range; this is optional but available if needed. We can also enter the rate name and labels for the English channels. In our case, we will add them for English as well.
Adding More Rate Types
You can create up to 10 different rates. In our example, we're going to create another rate specifically for children. We'll set the total number of children and the same "label number two." Importantly, here we need to select the correct age category, as this information is vital for OTAs. Here, you can also add the minimum and maximum age range for children.
Saving and Verifying Rate Types
Once all our rates are defined, you must click "Save Changes." Now, if we go to Dates and Prices and wish to create departures with prices, we can add a distinct price for adults and a different price for children. Similarly, if we go to the booking engine, we can see these different rates reflected in both the German and English channels.
