Where do I find it?
PRODUCTS > TOURS > MAPPING ASSISTANT
What does it mean?
The Mapping Assistant shows how a tour’s departures are organised and how they can be matched with connected online travel agencies (OTAs). Use this section to understand whether the tour has a simple schedule, such as one departure per day, or a more detailed setup with multiple departure options based on start time, supplier notes, departure codes, or a combination of these details.
What should I do?
Go to PRODUCTS > TOURS > MAPPING ASSISTANT
The Mapping Assistant page is read-only. Use it to check whether each tour is mapped correctly and to review the mapping type and details.
Use the filters to find the tour you want to review. You can search by tour name or code, product filter, product status, or mapping status.
Check the MAPPED column to confirm the tour status. A red cross means the tour is not mapped. A green tick means the tour is mapped, and the MAPPING TYPE column shows which mapping structure is being used.
Select the CONFIGURE icon to open the Mapping Assistant details for that tour. This page lets you review the mapping structure and the information used to identify each departure.
The mapping types are as follows:
Single departure per day
It means there is only one single departure per day.
Multiple departures per day — varies by start time
This option is used when the tour has more than one departure on the same day and each departure is identified by its start time. Select the departures you want to map and leave any departures you do not want to include blank. Hover over the information icon to view the product notes for each language.
Multiple departures per day — varies by supplier note
This option is used when the tour has multiple departures on the same day and each departure is identified by a different supplier note. Select the departures you want to map and leave any departures you do not want to include blank. Hover over the information icon to view the product notes for each language.
Multiple departures per day — varies by departure code
This option is used when the tour has multiple departures on the same day and each departure is identified by a different departure code. Select the departures you want to map and leave any departures you do not want to include blank. Hover over the information icon to view the product notes for each language.
Multiple departures per day — varies by partial match of supplier note and start time
This option is used when the tour has multiple departures on the same day and the departures need to be matched using both the start time and supplier note. Create rules that match the supplier note details you want to map. Hover over the information icon to view the product notes for each language.
If Viator is connected to the account, the departure mapping option is used to suggest the Viator mapping code in SETUP > OPERATIONS/SUPPLIERS.
The departure mapping option is also included in the Show Tour and List tours API responses, in the <tour_departure_structure> node.
