What does it mean?

In this tab all the relevant descriptions (texts, images, videos, geocodes, …) of a product are managed and stored.

Where can I find it?

Under “Homepage->Products->Tours->edit Tour->Description & Images”:

What should I do?

Be specific. Especially when using the TourCMS API for distribution through OTAs and agent sales. This is where your partners will get all the relevant descriptions for your product.

Sometimes it might look a little redundant with different fields asking for more or less the same information. However, we strongly advise you to be meticulous when filling in this information, since every OTA or agent will use it differently.

How to use it?

Best thing is to run through the setup tab by tab:

Key information:

Most of the sections are self explanatory. If you point at the (i) symbol next to the section description a useful help text will pop up:

So we will only go through the ones that might not be self explanatory:

Comercial priority:

Internal setting to set the commercial priority, doesn’t affect agents or OTAs.

Geocodes / Google Places:

Very useful feature where at least a start and end point is required.

You can rather add a new waypoint or edit an existing one.

Just enter an address or a landmark in the search box and choose the correct location from the dropdown:

5.png

As you can see, every waypoint will be tagged with the corresponding Google Places ID, address and GeoCodes.

You can also choose if the tour includes admission (e.g. for a museum or similiar) or not:

6.png

And if it is just a "Route Marker" or if it is a stop where people can get on and off:

Somewhere between 5 to 10 waypoints should be entered for each tour, since some OTAs will also pull the waypoints for your tour from TourCMS.

Tour Tags:

Tour Operators / Suppliers can define product tour tags to aid grouping products on their website. At least one must be selected.

Most of the tours will be suitable for almost everybody, just be careful with the wheelchair setting!

Remember to “Save key information” before you leave.

Text descriptions & video

You need to enter a description for each of your channels!

All the fields are self explanatory with the (i) symbol.

As mentioned at the beginning: Be generous with the descriptions.

You can rather “Save description changes” only for this channel, or “Save & COPY to all channels with the same language”.

Just make sure you click on one of them before you leave so as to not lose all the descriptions introduced before.

Alternative description

Here a separate description (perhaps for SEO or context purposes) can be added.

You can introduce a description in the default values (which apply to all the channels), or you can introduce “Channel Specific” descriptions.

The editors support HTML Code for the descriptions.

Images

Add up to 10  images in landscape format for each tour.

In order to guarantee a proper image quality the images need to be at least 1500 pixels wide.

If your images are narrower you can easily resize them with Microsoft Paint or any other image editing tool:

TourCMS will automatically create images in different size from the uploaded original:

Thumbnail: 342px wide

Default: 800px wide

Large: 1500px wide (original) and

Extra Large: 1920px wide

You can also add generic and channel specific descriptions to the images.

Product page URLs

Here the URL page for your tours on the different channels can be introduced.

Once you click edit, you need to enter the “second part” of the URL, since the first part is inherited from the “channel general settings” under “Configuration->Channels”:

10.png

It needs to be an exsiting and reachable URL, preferably the real URL for this product on your website, since TourCMS will check if the URL really exists.

Incomplete data

Very useful tab that shows if and which information is missing on the tour for it to be distributed:

12.png

Here the "Dates & Prices" are missing, and this is why the tour shows red in the overview:

13.png

Once "Dates & Prices" are set, it's all systems go:
