In this video, we will explain to you how to configure product filters.

In this video, I am going to explain how the product filters work. Product filters allow you to organise your tours using your own custom fields. There is a two-step process to create your product filter.

Step 1: Create Categories and Groups
The first thing you need to do is create your categories and groups. There is another video where I explain it, or if you prefer, you can read our article. But please go to Configuration > System and Setup, and then click on Categories in Groups. Basically, you will need to decide on the aspects you will group your products.

Step 2: Create Product Filters
After that is done, you have to create the product filters based on these new groups. Go to Configuration > System and Setup, and click on Product Filter.

The next steps would be to create the actual product filters. This can use any combination of the groups and categories we configured before. And once we have them set up, new and existing products will drop into the product filters automatically.

Enter the name for your product filter and click on Create. In this case, I've already created the filter "Channels OTAs." Now, click on Setup, and you will see the boxes of your categories. Move the correct one to the right. Save your changes, and repeat for your other product filters.

Assigning Tours to Product Filters
Once you have built your product filters, all you need to do is ensure that you set the correct details on the Categories tab in setup for each tour that you create. In order to do that, go to Product > Tours, select the tool you want (in this case, "Granada Hop On Hop Off" since this is the one I want to have in this filter). Click on Setup, Categories, and move the correct one again to the right, and Save Changes.

Please note that it may take up to a few minutes for tours to show up in a new product filter, or for new tours to show up in existing product filters.

Verifying Product Filters
One way to check if it is well done is in the Product Filter page in Configuration. You will see the tour with this filter. Or, if you prefer, go to Reports, click on Product Filters, and you will see this report list. We each have the product filters and the tools returned by them.

Using Product Filters
It is also good to know that if you go to one of your tours and settings, in the booking engine, you can optionally list the set of alternative products. This list can be based on a product filter. For that, once you have created the corresponding product filter, at the bottom of the page, you can select multiple alternative tools and the corresponding product filters to restrict the alternative tools.

You can also use the product filters when checking availability, to make a new booking, or when searching for existing bookings. A product filter can be used to refine the results. This is an easy way to restrict your search.

And that's all. Finally, if you have more questions about this, you can check our article "Product Filters."
